Please join us in congratulating the PE2 Maintenance Team for achieving 2 years without a recordable injury as of May 5th, 2017.
PE2 has been extremely busy especially over the past year due to a few unplanned outages. They supported couple emergency outages including the one in June of 2016 where 400,000 tons of dried polly pellets were stuck in the stripper and later had to be dumped onto the ground. For every outage the manpower could range from 10 extra employees to over 80 employees above the maintenance team in PE2. During 2016 the PE2 team was challenged with 2 emergency outages, one in June and the second in December where the weather was extremely cold. It takes a dedicated group of people to maintain the safe mindset when going from regular maintenance to an outage the next day with little if any notice. Some employees are sent home during the day only to get enough sleep to return and work a full nightshift.
Over and above the regular Maintenance there has been a Tracing Project in effect at PE2 for the past 2 years. The 10-15 temporary employees are there to replace the steam tracing from copper to stainless steel. This crew consists of Scaffolders, Insulators, Pipefitters and Laborers.
It takes dedication and strong leadership from the PE2 base crew to ensure all work gets done safely and in a timely manner, regardless if it’s maintenance, tracing projects or the all too often outages that take place. Thank you for your continued efforts in staying focused and for contributing to the Safety Culture that Quinn maintains as a company.
